Heading into 2024

The craziness that is December is over…and we have entered 2024.

The focus on skin will continue.

Skincare, wrinkle relaxing, skin boosters, polynucleotides, microneedling and LED add ons will continue to be in demand. The fixation with fillers will continue to fall away, as there is still a wide-spread misconception that these make you look weird. Treatments that focus on collagen banking and production will increase in relevance.

Post-Christmas, post-sales, no events coming up, in the depths of winter…all contribute to a seasonal lull in appointments being booked. January is a slow month for many in aesthetics, with things starting to pick up around March.

And whilst the industry is still growing, with estimates around 15% annual growth globally, the year ahead in aesthetics is likely to be challenging.

  • The early part of the year will bring increased energy prices

  • The cost of living crisis is forecast until the end of 2024

  • There’s increased competition for aesthetic patients as more medics and non-medics train in aesthetics

  • There’s sustained competition in the skincare space from online and high street retailers for skincare clients

  • A persisting stigma surrounding aesthetic treatments

The landscape means that now, more than ever, aesthetic practitioners must be intentional in growing a business that is sustainable, resilient and profitable.
